WHAT IS PRECONCEPTION CARE?

Preconception care isn’t just about falling pregnant and it’s also not just about taking a prenatal vitamin.

Preconception Care is about making dedicated changes to diet, lifestyle and supporting a healthy reproductive cycle for 3 months.

WHY?

Preconception care improves fertility outcomes, improves health outcomes for the couple with a lower risk pregnancy, and improves health of the baby. 

HOW?

Preconception care ensures that the environment for egg and sperm growth and maturation is optimum thereby increasing egg and sperm quality, positively affecting the gene environment. Preconception care may reduce time to conception, with improved maternal health in pregnancy reducing preeclampsia risk, low birthweight, gestational diabetes or preterm birth.

WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM PRECONCEPTION CARE?

All prospective parents can benefit from preconception care. Especially those: with miscarriage history, women having children close together, women with PCOS/endometriosis/adenomyosis/repro issues, older couples, couples taking longer to conceive, with underlying health conditions, undergoing IVF, younger women with low Anti-mullerian hormone.

In your first consult I will learn your story and your needs and desired outcomes.

We will determine your treatment plan and way forward, this may involve :

• stress support recommendations

• digestive healing

• menstrual cycle support with herbal and nutritional medicine

• you may require vaginal microbiome testing for intimate health
